During the high-water season (October to January), Kompong Phluk village is inundated and remains under several meters due to the increase of the Tonle Sap water level. It is the best season to visit that village and an alternative to the visit to the temples.

From Siem Reap, transfer to Phnom Krom, the local pier at Tonle Sap lake then boarding a first boat to reach Kompong Phluk in under 1h30 of time. Boat tour to the main and only street where one can witness the daily life of the locals then stop at the pagoda, only hard-built construction of the place.

small boat tour of the forest

After a visit to the pagoda and meet the local monks, you may make a donation of school supplies bought on the spot, to the school's children; then board a small oar-boat for a tour to the inundated forest. Fish ponds placed in the forest will recall you that the main activity of the village is fishing.

After that unusual trip in that ephemeral place, back to the village where the catering possibilities are very limited but a small local restaurant exists. The boat is awaiting passengers for the trip back to Phnom Krom then transfer back to your hotel.
